A little about CPD:
I started photo-documentation for construction over 6 years ago with the intent of starting a small business for myself. I quickly realized that the best
person to photograph a project is the person already working on the project.
The more I photographed projects for others the more convinced I became that anyone can and should photo-document their own projects.
My final conclusion is that photo-documentation is not rocket science! Today's digital cameras makes good photography easy, they are truly point and
shoot automatically adjusting for focus and lighting in an instant. All that is needed is some how-to instructions to help you develop a photo-document
program that will give you consistent results. This kind of "do it yourself" program will bring true photo-documentation to even the smallest projects
and most importantly to every project.
Having worked in the Construction and Facilities Management fields for most of my career I
understand the impact of adding one more task to anyone working in the field or office. The
entire development of CPD's photo-documentation program has been centered around
minimizing this impact without sacrificing the quality and usefulness of the photo-document.
Specifically designed to easily integrate into your already busy schedule, much of the initial
startup is completed by e-mail and on-line. Get started taking photos the first week and have
a fully developed program in 3-4 weeks.
Photo-Documentation is EASY:
One of the biggest misconceptions of construction photography is that you need some
photography skills, you don't! With today's digital cameras anyone can take quality, usable
photographs. It is much more important that you know a lot about what your taking pictures
of. Knowing what to photograph now means that you need to know what you may need
them for in the future. This doesn't mean taking massive amounts of photographs on each
project, but getting a good representative sampling of the entire project and specific details
of important elements. This makes construction supervisors and managers the best qualified
to take the pictures or manage another person.
